(not yet completely SOLVED) - '4k Video Downloader' does not start.
Hi,
Just installed a '4K Video Downloader' update and the software does not launch.
It always did before.
What could have gone wrong..?
Someone has had the same problem..?
Thanks
Chris

Re: '4k Video Downloader' does not start.
Hi,
I downloaded it a few days ago and it does not launch, so I removed and went back to the older version.
If you open it in a terminal it shows a few errors concerning GLIBC.
I am on Mint Mate 18.3 64 bit and I think I will make a new install when the 19.3 version comes out
Best regards Keith

Re: '4k Video Downloader' does not start.
Is it possible to completely remove that newest version and install an older one..?
Re: '4k Video Downloader' does not start.
Maybe I'd better remove it altogether and install another video downloader.
Any suggestions for a video downloader to be used in LM18.3.?
I already tried a downloader within Firefox itself, but it is not stable at all.
Thanks guys
Chris

Don't know where you would find an earlier version.

Re: '4k Video Downloader' does not start.
Chriske
I uninstalled it from the mate Menu. It was the top item in my Menu. Right click it and uninstall.
I am using 4.9.2.3082. I have a copy of it in my Download folder, but I do not know how to send it to you.
Best regards Keith

dropbox..?
Re: '4k Video Downloader' does not start.
Found another way to download YouTube movies.
There's a function in VLC to do it, but it is a ridiculously long procedure.

Re: '4k Video Downloader' does not start.
Found an older version of the software and all is well now
Re: (SOLVED) - '4k Video Downloader' does not start.
Hi,
I also mailed the developers of the software.
The lady answering my mail kindly advised me to update my OS because Mint 18.3 is a very old one.

Re: (SOLVED) - '4k Video Downloader' does not start.
Chriske,
I had the same advice, but I am going to hold onto 18.3 for a few months more before I upgrade to 19.3
Best regards Keith

Re: (SOLVED) - '4k Video Downloader' does not start.
Now I do have another problem.
The software does launch but not all movies are downloadable it seems.
Yet again, with that old version I did use in the past there was not one single problem at all. I never had issues with it.
Problem is I don't remember what version I had installed back then...
A friend sent me a site were I can pick from.
https://www.videohelp.com/software/4K-V ... d-versions
But question is : how save it that site...? What could go wrong..?

Re: (not yet completely SOLVED) - '4k Video Downloader' does not start.
Chriske,
The file I sent you was 4kvideodownloader 4.9.2-1 deb.
You can find the same file on the site that you gave a link to.
I do not know what version you have loaded, but if it is NOT this one then you need to remove it BEFORE you download the new file.
Go the Menu icon at the top left of your screen, then all programs, find and right click the 4kvideodownloader and uninstall the file. THEN go to the website and download the correct one. Once it has downloaded onto your computer go to the Downloads folder in your home directory and click or double click the file and install the file.
I have been using this particular file for some time now with no problems.
Best regards Keith

Re: (not yet completely SOLVED) - '4k Video Downloader' does not start.
the problem is the current version will not work on mint 18.3.
However reverting to an earlier version gives errors on downloading files.
The only way i can see to solve this is download mint 19 or later.
i have 2 computers . 1 running 18.3 and another running 19.3.
The latest version works fine on mint 19.3
