(SOLVED) here we go again ...MYSQL headache !

Post by charvey »

ok , i have mysql installed and running on mint 19.3 but the commands im finding online are NOT working . I am having a horrible time setting up users and passwords. i have looked at and read soooo many tutorials im blind. I need a set of command that work EVERY TIME i try them the same way . I need to create a user and give that user all privlges . i cant get a connection from user @ local host for some reason. i need a straight forward tutorial that does step by step on how this process works . anyone ?

Another option is to install Ubuntu server 18.04 which is LTS. MySQL php Apache come installed by default.
Either as virtual machine or dual boot.

I need to create a user and give that user all privlges .
This way

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get install mysql-server
sudo mysql -p -u root
mysql> CREATE USER 'username_here'@'%' IDENTIFIED BY 'password_here';

mysql> GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES ON *.* TO ’username_here’@’%’ WITH GRANT OPTION;

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get install phpmyadmin

I found a straight forward no non-sense guide to setting up and running Mysql . Why are these pages so rare? You would think this community would have better docs that could be found easier. And the out of date and old pages that are flooding the net make this 100% harder. Thanks for the replys, i fixed the issue and all is working . I will pass this on to others in groups so maybe we can help more than just one part of the community . :)

There is an option in google search to search for past number days, say 1 year and so on.
