[SOLVED] What's the terminal command for updating Startup Applications list?

Post by Samarian Sunset »

How do I get my Startup Applications app to update the list of what's running at startup? I must have done something wrong as now it no longer list Printer and Nvidia but has three entries that say 'Unavailable-no description' Is there a terminal command to refresh the list in Startup Applications? TIA

Do you have any Timeshift restore points that you can use?

Yes I do have Timeshift restore points, so I just now did that. It went well and as expected I had to reapply some system updates, but unfortunately it didn't change System Applications app list back to what it was...it's still the same.

At least I know how to use Timeshift if I ever need that again, so thanks. Any other suggestions? Is there some sudo apt update command for System Applications list?

Thanks, that does looks like the only way I can do it. I'm not sure if I even needed those missing entries anyway. It's just weird they disappeared but my system and printer still seem to work OK.

I'll mark this Solved.

Can you run this command in a terminal and report the output?

Code: Select all

ls ~/.config/autostart
The desktop files in this folder are user added or modified startup entries, so the cause of your issue is likely to be 3 files in this section.
