( after a fresh boot, it is working again )
Cups is no longer to print my page complete , but stops after 1 row of pixels.
Strange problem I had before and worked around it by printng to (pdf) file.
Then print page from envice.. worked, altough not as one would like.
Printing from gimp is a problem for a long time and printing from openoffice (liberoffice) works fine if I add an extra page...
But for some reason I can no longer print at all. Just 1 row of pixels and the prointer stops....
This is my lpoptions from the printer(driver)
lpoptions -p Canon-MP170
copies=1 device-uri=usb://Canon/MP170?serial=C17CB3&interface=1 finishings=3 job-hold-until=no-hold job-priority=50 job-sheets=none,none marker-change-time=0 number-up=1 ppd-timestamp=* printer-commands=none printer-info='Canon MP170' printer-is-accepting-jobs=true printer-is-colormanaged=true printer-make-and-model='Canon MP170 series - CUPS+Gutenprint v5.2.10-pre2' printer-state=5 printer-state-change-time=1584634353 printer-state-reasons=paused printer-type=167948 printer-uri-supported=ipp://localhost:631/printers/Canon-MP170
It looks like this problem is arisen since last update, a few days ago, but I cannot confirm.
Any advice is welcom.

Re: cups incomplete printing page
Is
printer-driver-cups-pdf
package installed?
Code: Select all
apt-cache policy printer-driver-cups-pdf
Re: cups incomplete printing page
apt-cache policy printer-driver-cups-pdf
N: Unable to locate package printer-driver-cups-pdf
But there is no package named like that in de distro.
This one I can find: cups-pdf version 2.6.1-9, this one is not installed.
But there is a cups device in de cups menu-form when printing... I can print to a pdf-file. ( not a preferred package... )
That file I can open in evince..
When I try to print it stopt after 1 stroke....
Printing has always been an issue in the past , but I could work around it, using the 600dpi setting or ad an extra page to print, sometimes put a dot at the last bit og the page...
I even did printing photos.
Now i am totally stuck.

Re: cups incomplete printing page
Well, how silly it is.
Just gave it another try again and it was printing fine, Like i did printing photos.
Problem solved? I guess not. But, where to look now.
I think the problem is originated by the usb driver.
I was a lot doing developing android ( official android dev-kit ) using an android device on the usb port.... Thats the only thing I can think of making the trouble.
I encounter somtimes usb-problems when exchanging devices to the one of the 2 ports in the front of the computer.
So I guess it must be some usb problem.
For it is okay to continue....
I did check the current printer config file, and looks unchanged.
root root 101900 jan 13 2015 /etc/cups/ppd/Canon-MP170.ppd

Re: cups incomplete printing page ( usb-problem ? )
Just out of curiosity, what version of Mint are you using?
PS.
Code: Select all
inxi -S
printer-driver-cups-pdf
has been default over cups-pdf
for years.Re: cups incomplete printing page ( usb-problem ? )

( I would do an upgrade, but only some LTS version.. the update I can click on is not an LTS...
Should be 16.04 or better.... Maybe even better I plan to do a new install. I know, but its a lot of work again.
I could even go for a new disk and copy al needed/own stuff afterwards.
Thats not an issue for me, but I hate to do it.... again and again... )
Thanks anyway !

Mint 17 has been obsolete a long time. Time to upgrade.
