LibreOffice Writer quirk

Post by AZgl1500 »

So far, every version of LO writer has a quirk that is irritating.

Drag over part of a sentence from Left to Right,
Right click to Copy and the highlighted text disappears :(

I have to Drag from Right to Left, then right click, Copy.

not the End of the World, but it damn sure pisses me off when it happens...

I can't reproduce that in v6.4.2.2.
It's pronounced kad-eye-cha, not kada-itcha.

Using LO v 6.0.7.3 on LM 19.3 MATE and right to left highlight and copy/paste work as expected.

What you cannot see is not necessarily hidden, is just the invisible ink mode
The same happens to me but it doesn't matter if is from right to left or from left to right.

Something strange is happening on your end. I tried to replicate the problem and couldn't. Possibly, for some odd reason, when you highlight by dragging from left to right, "Copy" on the right click context menu behaves like "Cut". I'm guessing (and it's a wild guess) that something in the .config folder for Libre Office got scrambled up in an earlier version and the glitch keeps getting carried over.

Again, this is a wild guess, but you might try uninstalling LibreOffice, delete the .config sub folder for LibreOffice (not the entire ,config folder, just the LibreOffice folder inside the .config folder), then reinstall LibreOffice. Make a Timeshift snapshot before you do this in case something goes horribly wrong).

I could be wrong so I suggest waiting to see if someone advises you otherwise before doing this.

Loved ALL of the responses....

don't know which version of LO is installed, it came with the 19.3 Cinnamon install.

Probably got something to do with my laid back life style, sitting in a recliner with a towel over the armrest, so the mouse will work.... funny thing that, laser type mice won't work on leatherette coverings, so I lay a hand towel over, and it works fine.

.so, took a snapshot, here is what I have.

LO.png

why the question?

I was privileged to be asked to Proof Read the latest Evan Garver novel "Dark Hunt", and that involved a lot of changes here and there.... so, I needed to highlight, suck out, paste back twice...

then make a correction, strike through the first one, Underline the 2nd one with my changes....

Loved doing that, he is one of my favorite authors.

It's difficult to deal with something that is already there and what you do, you need to do it twice.
You suck at sucking-paste LO!
No response..................
I'm gonna snap your version
I'm not going to answer........ I don't know what it is.
Grrr... correction, underline, changes
See..?. we're happy together, aren't we? cos we know it already.
I was just playing for your attention for a second time, and this isn't funny.
We are in-as-an-out-of-stock item of choice. You must change dictionary
I can see you... kind of... words, you're being underlined!

Not to me.
Is not something about version but formatting.
Not a problem, agreed? I'm not going to open a new topic for the same reasons.

Not being able to copy text after dragging left-to-right sounds like a problem.

Works fine for me, and My Writer "Help About" is almost identical (not as many CPU threads - different Locale). Must be one of your settings, or, you are all thumbs.

as far as the LibreOffice quirk goes, I'm also not able to duplicate it either,
& that's using this LM19.2 & LibreOffice Version: 6.0.7.3 :?
