debug symbols are missing for xfce4-session

Post by gregbeyer »

Hello, in System Reports, Crash Reports, I have a message when attempting to view the reports:

This is LM Xfce 19.3

"The debug symbols are missing for xfce4-session.
Please install xfce4-session-dbg."

But when I attempt to install xfce4-session-dbg, I have this result:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
xfce4-session-dbg : Depends: xfce4-session (= 4.12.1-3ubuntu3) but 4.14.0-0ubuntu1~18.04 is to be installed
E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages.

so attempted to fix:

apt-get update, then:

sudo apt-get install -f
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 14 not upgraded.

sudo apt-get install xfce4-session-dbg
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
xfce4-session-dbg : Depends: xfce4-session (= 4.12.1-3ubuntu3) but 4.14.0-0ubuntu1~18.04 is to be installed
E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages.

So, I guess the -f didn't really fix broken dependencies. Any suggestions?
