fdupes -rd dir1 dir2

Post by linux_trojan »

I found this command line on the internet. It is to find duplicates and delete one. But I dont see anywhere, which one? Files in dir1 or dir2 that are duplicates.

By the way, when I run it with no option, the results are simple enough. When I add -r, I thought I would get the same answer, but I got output I cannot recognize.

My objective is to automatically compare dir1 and dir2, and delete duplicates in one directory; but cant tell which directory it will delete in.
