Mainline - kernel update utility issue with LM19.0

Post by AndyMH »

Just installed from the ppa and it crashes.

First time round:

Code: Select all

andy@T432 ~ $ mainline-gtk
mainline 1.0.12
Distribution: Linux Mint 19 Tara
Architecture: amd64
Running kernel: 4.15.0-115-generic
----------------------------------------------------------------------

(mainline-gtk:9398): GVFS-WARNING **: 21:55:12.727: can't init metadata tree /home/andy/.local/share/gvfs-metadata/root: open: Permission denied
Found installed: 4.15.0-115.116
Found installed: 4.15.0.115.103
Found installed: 4.15.0-112.113
----------------------------------------------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Segmentation fault (core dumped)
Fixed ownership of the offending file, second time, still crashes:

Code: Select all

andy@T432 ~ $ mainline-gtk
mainline 1.0.12
Distribution: Linux Mint 19 Tara
Architecture: amd64
Running kernel: 4.15.0-115-generic

Found installed: 4.15.0.115.103
Found installed: 4.15.0-112.113

Segmentation fault (core dumped)
Doesn't like the command line either:

Code: Select all

andy@T432 ~ $ mainline --list
mainline 1.0.12
Distribution: Linux Mint 19 Tara
Architecture: amd64
Running kernel: 4.15.0-115-generic
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Found installed: 4.15.0-115.116
Found installed: 4.15.0.115.103
Found installed: 4.15.0-112.113
----------------------------------------------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Segmentation fault (core dumped)
Nothing special about my system - thinkpad T430 running LM19.0 cinnamon.

Thought this would be an alternative to ukuu, doesn't look like it.

EDIT - installed into LM19.2 (same laptop) - no problems.

Maybe a bad install in LM19.0 - uninstalled, reinstalled - no change. Doesn't look like it's compatible with LM19.0, don't know why.

If it was installed from a PPA, you might want to contact the maintainer of the PPA

As everybody else seems to know the relevant PPA address by heart, it is very likely not necessary to provide the address of the mainline GUI homepage?
