LM 20 Cinnamon,

In my still workhorse PC with LM 17.3 KDE I am using FreeMind as one of the often used applications.

I cannot find a source for FreeMind version 1.0.1; neither do I find a DEP file to be downloaded nor can I find a PPA.

I appreciate a lot your help to find a possibility to install FreeMind on my LM 20 Cinnamon machine.

Download from here:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/freemind/

The file is..
freemind-bin-max-1.0.1.zip
so you need to extract the files (somewhere of your choice) using Archive Manager.
Start by allowing the file freemind.sh to be executed as a program in it's property permissions.
Open freemind.sh & allow it to Run when asked..

Thanks a lot for your information.

I create /share/freemind. and unzip the file into this folder.

But I have a question about the usage of the freemind.sh file.
Start by allowing the file freemind.sh to be executed as a program in it's property permissions.
Open freemind.sh & allow it to Run when asked..
Do I need to use this string as a command in the terminal to start FreeMind
Can I create a link with an icon in a launcher and start from there?

I appreciate your help until this is running.

I would imagine that it is possible to create a launcher, although to be honest, launchers are not something I use.

The way I would do it (so not necessarily the way you want to do it :D ) is...

Create a Freemind Directory under a Program Directory in Home.
Extract the zip file to there & then make freemind.sh executable.
Create a shortcut to freemind.sh & then cut & paste that shortcut to my Desktop.
Tidy up the shortcut by renaming it to just Freemind & changing the icon to something a bit more appealing.

When you open the shortcut it will ask you if you wish to Run in Terminal, Display, Cancel or Run Freemind.
Run in Terminal or Run will open it..
