A number of sites are now complaining about firefox, why?

Post by wutsinterweb »

6 of my banking sites and 4 other sites are telling me I need an up to date browser, but I have the latest version of firefox running. Is it because it is in Linux and they are all ceasing some sort of support for Linux?

Which add-ons?

I haven't seen that happen, but maybe try this addon to change the reported browser:

I'm using Firefox version 81 and not having any issues with my banks or websites.

Maybe it has something to do with how you are accessing the Internet? I'm not using a VPN.

No VPN, but I had user agent switcher installed already and it may have been running as chrome. I'll get back to you guys if that resolved it, I had thought that I had user agent switcher turned off, but it wasn't.

I have a bank account that refuses to support Firefox on Linux. Had a discussion with their tech support. They do support Firefox, just not on Linux. My solution was to use Chromium. I'm looking forward to Chromium being supported on LM20 without using PPAs or Snap.

Sounds like a crappy bank to me.

Well, the service can be poor, but the interest rates are the highest anywhere. It's a Credit Union ... and it has something to do with the U.S. Navy, but I won't say the name. To their credit, Firefox (from Linux) mostly works on their site. The only thing that doesn't work is the opening of a new Certificate of Deposit. I've been a member since the early 80's. With the pandemic, they've closed two branches that were near me. :(

Hi Flemur. OP had accidently left User Agent Switcher in Chrome mode. I haven't used it in a long time, but I recall that UAS had old versions for most of it's settings. I believe that was the problem. He had mentioned that in another thread.

Wait no longer, testing an official mint version of chromium in the form of a .deb

Sounds like... User Agent Switcher is the problem. Image It was once a good add-on but not now...remove it...problem solved. Image

It's doing what it advertises.

Just add exception(s) to UAS if it has that option.
