Firefox 82: some websites do not work properly

Post by OunceofCommonSense »

I am having trouble with a few web sites on Firefox 82. The page loads but buttons on the web sites and sometimes login with keepassXC does not work. In these situations Opera browser works fine.
This is what I have tried:
Clearing all cookies on all sites and clearing cookies in affected sites
Running in Safe Mode
Looking for error pages (none occur)
turning off Firefox enhanced tracking for site
disabled hardware acceleration

This has been the case with the last couple of Firefox major releases. The web sites are all https
It has become a problem with banking. This is a web site that does not work properly after I login https://www.varagesale.com/northumberla ... -sell/feed I am not able to click on my profile or other buttons

I had that problem a couple months ago, then it just went away with a new release.
vs 82.0 here also.

I followed that link and it came right up w/o any issues at all.

here is my list of addons and none of them are posing a problem.

I'm not having issues with websites but Firefox 82 is slow and I get the internet connection flag a lot. It says they are having network connections problems. I switched back to Chrome and it runs fine. Dumping Firefox for awhile.

@AZgl1500
The issue with that web site only appear when I login, so I guess it is a bad example. My banking site also has issue which is a bigger concern.I contacted the bank and they were aware there is an issue but have not done anything.
I loaded Firefox in safe mode which I think disables all extensions and the problem persisted.
I wonder why this is occurring
EDIT: tried to manually disable all extensions, still have problem

Hi AZg,
here is my list of addons and none of them are posing a problem.
In one of your screen shots, i saw something called Facebook "Messanger"...its not spelled correctly as it should be "Messenger"...unless that is something very unique to Firefox add-on extensions, it makes me wonder whether that is an extension to be trusted since it is mispelled...does not look like its something official from facebook to me...just a thought...DAMIEN

I think the add-on in question is this one. From reading a few of the negative reviews it seems that this is nothing more than a bookmark to the FB Messenger site, which seems harmless but also pretty pointless.

the author of 'webbased Messenger" is not a native English speaker.
I also noticed that miss spelling, but it works like a charm.

I don't like to boot up FB just to respond to a messenger post
I purposely wanted to avoid the FB website.

OK AZg,

I was just concerned for you was all...none of us like possible nasties with unpleasant surprises...lol.
I purposely wanted to avoid the FB website.
Couldnt agree with you more on that subject...Thats why i refuse to use ANY so-called "Social", or maybe they should be called, "Anti-Social", communications software whatsoever.

I have five forms of Communication that i use...The forums, (YEA),...Telephone, "voice" only, (NO texting, NO internet via telephone), Email, snail mail, and of course, in person contact, (remember, "once upon a time", when we could all socialise and interact in person and actually get to know each other???),...Now, people are afraid to even cough to clear their throats in public...DAMIEN

I think my problem is related to the soon to disappear Flash plugin. It is missing on my install of Mint 20 but present on my other partition with Mint 19.3. I tried one of the sites I am having trouble with on Mint 19 and it worked fine until I started messing around with the Flash plugin.
I am guessing the sites I have trouble with use Flash which will disappear in a couple of months from now. Hopefully those sites will upgrade their web usage

Waive bye-bye to Flash.
I've done some screen caps of my favourite Flash animations for posterity, as many sites will likely allow their Flash content to sunset.

Yes Say good bye to flash. I don't think that was the issue on my websites after all as I checked the pages for Flash and it was absent

Hm. On none of my systems, updating to Firefox 82.0 82.0.1 82.0.2 has removed the Adobe Flash plugin. :?

I found out turning off the hardware accelerator and clearing all cookies, history ... helped with my problems on the new Firefox. Still just not right though? Chrome is so much faster :?:

<just thinking aloud>
Firing a bunch of developers and shortening the update release cycle intervals may not be compatible with ensuring software quality.

Good thinking IMHO :( What I hate about the new Firefox is it will sometimes hangup and be hung for around 20 to 30 sec. Then it will start working again. I know it's Firefox because Chrome doesn't do this on the same sites and webpages. I really don't trust Chrome so I may be on an adventure to a new browser

Trying out Brave browser and so far so good. No problems with the web sites Firefox didn't display properly and it is very fast. Also works with KeepassXC which I need. Just have to use it for awhile to get used to it and then the difficult task of getting my wife on board with it (we share the PC)

This showed up for me yesterday, I was updating some bank info and want to go to a separate page and Firefox refused to let me do so.... it forced me into a Restart right there!!! pissed me off big time

it has never done that to me before, it has always said "you need to restart FF soon" and let me finish what I was doing.

I am going to change the way it updates, it will be Manual from now on.
