Sleeper12:

Yep, I think it IS time for Timeshift. I'll wait a little bit (it's lunch time here in Alaska) in case someone has a suggestion, but then go for it.

Thank you Sleeper12 and Larry 78723 for the assistance.

@Larry78723:

Nope. Juneau. Moved down from Fairbanks years ago when the cold began to be too much for this old body.

(and, yes, I did have a gold claim north of Fairbanks)

I was stationed at Ft Wainwright and was an instructor at the Eilson AFB arctic survival course for pilots from 1980-1983. It was the best assignment of my 23 year Army career.

Now thats funny...at least to me.

When i retired in 2010, i decided to move from New Hampshire...At my retirement party, i was asked how far south i was going to move since i despise hot climates...i jokingly replied i was moving no farther south than Juneau, Alaska.

Well i moved alright, im in really hot country called Alamogordo, New Mexico...about a one and a half hour drive from the Mexican border...lol.

My friends up north call me on the phone and ask, "hey, hows Juneau working out for you there"...lol.

Funny thing though is that a very rare thing happened here Monday night through most of Tuesday...6 inches of snow...lol. I was in my element.

The reason i moved here you might now ask...its cheap...everything here costs me a third of what it costs in New Hampshire so Social Security goes a much longer way...lol...DAMIEN

And i can ride this all year long down here...lol.

See what kind of things old demented minds like mine start building when they get bored...lol.

Neat mode of transport, Damien. I could use one here if we didn't have so much rain.

Just sucks to be in the rainy Carolina's...lol...We have approx. 350 days of sunshine per year...DAMIEN

Ps...Ive had it up to 50 MPH before i chickened out, realising that it is, after all, still a bicycle...after about 45 MPH, your thinking that its time to stop and clean the racing stripes out of your "shorts"...lol...DAMIEN

Yep Larry...You are certainly correct, we got off topic...So lets put things to right here and pick up again where the OP left off before he went to lunch...lol...And you and I went off on our little "Tangent"...but he DID say, "go for it"...lol...DAMIEN

Well, I'm now looking at a fresh install. Been running mate for a long time, going to switch to cinnamon. I Timeshifted back to last June and found the same problem. Then I tried a Foxclone of a little bit earlier. Same problem. I could just take this machine out and shoot it 'cause I have 4 more (one has winsux on it :oops: )
but...I'll dl a fresh install of cinnamon and go from there. Gives me a project to do.
My off topic turn:I got out of the Air Force in 1973 at Eielson. Moved to Juneau in 1980. Was raised in Rabun County, Georgia. Never went back.

Probably won't help, but try:

Code: Select all

apt reinstall mintupdate
mintupdate

@sleeper12

Oops, too late. Now up and running shiny brand new Linux Mint 20 Cinnamon. I have a likely candidate we can blame my troubles on:
I did an upgrade from 19.3 to 20. I should have done a fresh install. It's very possible I did something along the way that caused the problem
Thank you for your time and assistance. I appreciate the help.

You can never tell what kind of strange things can happen with an upgrade from one major release to another, i.e.19.x to 20.x. That's why most of us prefer a clean install vs upgrade.

Glad you're up and running again.
