No channels on Hypnotix

Post by folium »

Hi!

I just installed Mint 20.1 Ulyssa Mate on my desktop and in the New Features section it says:
By default Hypnotix comes with a free IPTV provider called Free-IPTV
So are there suppose to be some channels in there cause there's none for me. And installing new ones seems to be way too complicated to be a nice feature for newcomers. More like here's a new cool app! Figure it out!

But I'm hoping it's just that for some reason the channels didn't get installed in my Hypnotix. Anyway of me getting the default channels available?

Not sure... when I loaded Mint 20.1 (going from 19.3) it just worked with 3000+ channels (many foreign language).

This is what my free channel input screen looks like, so I guess that if you add a new provider & repeat this you will get it as well..

Hi

Here's what I got out-of-the-box:

I tried adding a new provider with the same information as yours but it just doesn't add anything after I click OK. I was able to add a couple of channels through iptvcat.net though.

I'm just not gonna go through a huge list of channels I've never heard of and that have no description to try and find content I'd be interested in

Strange..
You could try deleting it & reinstalling through Software Manager..

An update just dropped for Hypnotix which replaces the feed with a different one. New version is 1.6.

Edit: Haven't installed it yet, but from what I can tell from GitHub, the new feed is a shadow of the old one. We're basically starting from scratch...

This solution of adding the IPTV provider worked for me on 15 Apr, mid day Pacific Time. 3,000+ channels (many of which are functional) has been returned. Hope the agreements between aggrieved parties come soon. In the meanwhile, perhaps a knowledgable person could create a new thread with known, legitimate, reputable IPTV provider info so we can easily add to our individual Hyponix app Provider Lists. Thanks to all.

Sorry Richie99 both those URLs return a 'Site not found' message, so I guess they have been removed as well.
As Foxy Stoat mentioned, I received an update today that reduced my number of stations to 59.
Adding my old M3U URL failed, as that site is also no longer available..

If I add as a new source in Hypnotix then it will just not save.
If I enter either of the URLs into a browser then I get the following..

Had updated, had not restarted.
Have restarted now, result the same as before... Hypnotix will not accept either M3u address, browser still gives 404 message...

What country are you in, Richie99 ??
Maybe I could switch my VPN to that & try again??

I seriously doubt that will fix a completely wrong URL.

No, but it might fix a country blocked one, as I currently reside in South East Asia...

I know how to update a new source in Hypnotix, however your URLs will not allow it to save them.
That implies that Hypnotix is not getting a correct response from the URL...

It is a URL so if it is correct then it should open in a browser. The fact that it gives a 404 error either means that it does not exist or it is being deliberately blocked by my service provider. Although, if blocked, it is usually an official message saying so, not just not found..

To watch IPTV you just need to paste this link https://iptv-org.github.io/iptv/index.m3u to any player which supports M3U-playlists.

I pointed that out much earlier in the thread. I even wrote that it was completely wrong.
