Hi there, newb to Linux. Trying to install Wine from the Software Manager, chose the "Wine - Microsoft Windows Compatibility Layer" option. It gives a long list of changes to be made, then when I click Continue, I get a package operation failed message with the following details:
installArchives() failed: Error in function: install
apt_pkg.Error: E:Could not configure 'libc6:i386'. , E:Could not perform immediate configuration on 'libgcc-s1:i386'. Please see man 5 apt.conf under APT::Immediate-Configure for details. (2)
Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Thanks

Re: error installing wine (Mint 20 cinnamon)
Consider using PlayonLinux instead of Wine. No need to uninstall anything you already have. Just get PlayonLinux from the Software Manager or apt.
Re: error installing wine (Mint 20 cinnamon)
Tried to install Playonlinux, got Package Operation Failed, with this error: installArchives() failed: Error in function: install
Re: error installing wine (Mint 20 cinnamon)
Update: did the command-line Wine install above, then re-ran the playonlinux install and it worked! Now to figure out how to use it
Thanks!
Thanks!

Finished with these error messages... do they matter?
E: Could not configure 'libc6:i386'.
E: Could not perform immediate configuration on 'libgcc-s1:i386'. Please see man 5 apt.conf under APT::Immediate-Configure for details. (2)
