Hello,
I am using RythmBox, I've tried amarok and another one I don't remember (sorry) and all of them have trouble to read japanese tags from the mp3 and even the japanese name of the folder.
Do you know a software that would work properly? I have a lot of japanese songs and that's not very convenient to see some sqaures or strange symbols instead of the name ... ^_^;
I hope someone can help me.

I think exaile is the Gnome equivalence to Amarok for KDEkurisutofu wrote:I am using RythmBox, I've tried amarok and another one I don't remember (sorry) and all of them have trouble to read japanese tags from the mp3 and even the japanese name of the folder.

You probably need some system font support or adding a keyboard layout to allow other character sets (UTF) , enables international and Asian characters, so it might be USA keyboard USA-utf as a layout selection

Re: Music player with Shift-Jis tags
The language support is already installed (I live in japan so I really need it) and still it didn't work.
I will try with Exaile as you proposed and will come back later

Re: Music player with Shift-Jis tags
Unfortunately Exaile behaves the same way as RhytmBox ...
Isn't there any that accepts Shift-JIS tags?

Re: Music player with Shift-Jis tags
you could try jajuk and gmusicbrowser. if it will or wont work i cant tell.
Re: Music player with Shift-Jis tags
Well, no luck with those too ...
I also tried Banshee and it also didn't work ...
I can't believe there isn't a player that detects the encoding automatically and treats the tags properly ...
