Why it is so hard to install Zoneminder?

Post by linuxdummie »

Since few days I am trying to install Zoneminder but without success and needed to restore 2x my Linux Mint. I just want to have access to my surveillance camera that I had on Windows via iSpy.
I tried following these instructions too. viewtopic.php?p=2006632#p2006632
Follow the on-screen instructions taking caution to select MySQL password option during setup, followed by configuring the phpMyAdmin user and password.
There was only to select MySQL password. No request to configure phpmyAdmin user and password.

Configuring Mysql and Changing root password
Configuring: Command not found.
Goddammit...
CREATE USER 'zmuser'@localhost IDENTIFIED BY 'zmpass';

(If CREATE does not work try with ALTER )
Yes, create does not work. But with alter? What? How to try with ''alter''?

I couldn't agree more.

Try Xeoma instead. Failing that, do what I did.

Unless anybody knows any better, there isn't any decent CCTV software for linux.

Note - if you just want to look at the live camera feed, not record, you can probably view them via your browser, just type their IP address in.
