Battery drains when the computer is shutdown

Post by odannis »

Hi everyone,

Yesterday night, I shut down my computer around 2:00 AM. At this moment, everything seems OK. But, this morning when I tried to boot my computer I can't do it without plugin the charger. My battery was at 0%. I looked at the log file, and it seems that the computer didn't properly shutdown :

Thank you for the help,
my computer is an XPS 13 9310

Howdy. Welcome to the forum.

I may not be the one to help you, but I'll maybe get it set for someone else to help.
Do you dual boot with windows?
Please type this in a terminal and post the output url link:

Code: Select all

journalctl -rb -1 | nc termbin.com 9999
Then post the output of this:

Code: Select all

inxi -Fxxxrz
Post the output in "Code" tags. The button that inserts these tags is marked </>

Hi,

First of all, thank you for your answer. I take the help from anywhere!

I only installed Linux mint, I wipe entirely my hard drive for the installation of linux. So no dual boot!

For the first command i got :

Code: Select all

$ journalctl -rb -1 | nc termbin.com 9999
https://termbin.com/8vh5
For the second one :

Code: Select all

inxi -Fxxxrz

You did good.

So the last time you rebooted (perhaps just this morning) your system shutdown correctly. See the top of your URL link: https://termbin.com/8vh5
Note that when you post a URL link you should use the button with a chain link on it.

Compare to my normal shutdown just a few minutes ago:

Code: Select all

Perhaps you should check 2 boots ago:
journalctl -rb -2 | head -25
Or 3 boots ago:
journalctl -rb -3 | head -25

As long as you get "Shutting down." and "Journal stopped" I think it shutdown good.

Do a search on this forum for "power management" and read through some of those. Then post your results or questions.
