Problems with Compiz/Desktop Effects

Postby kpr94 » Tue Oct 27, 2009 7:56 pm

Hey I've using Ubuntu for a while now and I've recently been trying out Linux Mint 7 on Virtualbox, considering to make the switch completely. I had some trouble with screen resolution, but now that I've got that solved, I can't seem to get my Compiz to work. It works fine on my host OS, Ubuntu 9.04, but on Linux Mint, I get an error saying that "Desktop effects could not be enabled". I'm using a Toshiba Portege M750 laptop if that helps. Thanks in advance

That error message usually means you do not have the correct driver loaded for your video card. Go to Menu, Control Center, Hardware, Hardware Drivers and install the recommended driver. If there is not a recommended driver there open a terminal, type the following command, and post its output to this thread:

inxi -G
