Hello everyone, I am new, but I thank you all of you in advance.
My question is as follows:
I am using a Mint Mate distro (20.2), and I would like to be able to find specific words inside any "Windows document", either "docx or xlsx". I have tried, Catfish, Regexxer and other ones, but it looks there is a incompatibility problem, because it never finds what I'm looking for, and I know for sure that word is included in that document. Any other graphic software or terminal finder, finds by file name, that's all. Any explanation or idea folks?. I'll appreciate a graphic solution rather than terminal one. Thanks.

Have you tried vizigrep? It's in Software Manager
Re: Any word finder inside a document
No, I am trying now, I will let you know pretty soon. Thanks.

It doesn't work.

Hm. You're right, just tried it myself. I only mentioned it because (a) I used to use it and it worked; and (b) you are on Mate.
I am on Cinnamon 20.2 and the new version of Nemo does find strings within files. Just tried it with a ".docx" file and an ".xlsx" file. It found my test files in seconds.
I'm not sure why vizigrep isn't working now, I'll look it up. It used to be very handy.

Have a look at recoll - it's in the Software Manager. Read the feedback comments to see what else you need to install for searching MS Office and LibreOffice files.
