Installation of Mondo Rescue

Post by RVDowning »

Are there any current instructions for how to install the Mondo Rescue suite?

I tried the following from some instructions I found but as can be seen I didn't get anywhere.

wget ftp://ftp.mondorescue.org/ubuntu/`lsb_release -r|awk ' {print $2}' `/mondorescue.sources.list
--2021-07-28 15:11:30-- ftp://ftp.mondorescue.org/ubuntu/20.2/mondorescue.sources.list
=> ‘mondorescue.sources.list’

There's your answer. :) Perhaps you meant the 20.04 directory?

I only typed in the following:

wget ftp://ftp.mondorescue.org/ubuntu/`lsb_release -r|awk ' {print $2}' `/mondorescue.sources.list

I don't know how to tell it that I want the 20.04 directory.

I don't know who told you to do that, but you're leveraging a lsb_release variable from Linux Mint (20.2) to achieve something which appears to be for Ubuntu.

It sounds like you'd want wget ftp://ftp.mondorescue.org/ubuntu/20.04/mondorescue.sources.list but while that directory does exist, the file does not.

Well then, perhaps I need to give up trying to install this software. Maybe I need to look somewhere else for some decent backup software. I did use this in the past a long time ago and it was excellent.

I should have said how to install it on Linux Mint. I have installed it on other distributions without issue.

A quick look at the website says the last packaging they did for Ubuntu was for 15.10, so perhaps not a bad idea to look elsewhere.
