Mint 20.2 Cinnamon, Grub Customizer
I see many posts re Grub Customizer, but can't find a solution to slow boot up after ATTEMPTED install of Grub Customizer
The install of the Grub Customizer default install location was in EFI System Partition, with no option to change that, so exited the setup.
Since then boot up time increased to 1 minute and 40 seconds, was maybe half that previously.
Need to restore smaller boot up time.
Please help
Thanks
dan

Re: Mint 20.2 Cinnamon, Grub Customizer
The latest recommendation is to not use Grub Customizer.
Please post the results of these 3 commands in the terminal:
And then this one too unless you are of the opinion that this is "giving away the farm":
Post all the outputs in "Code" tags. The button that inserts these tags is marked </>
Please post the results of these 3 commands in the terminal:

Re: Mint 20.2 Cinnamon, Grub Customizer
So did Grub Customizer install? Start up Synaptic Package Manger, click on Installed on left, and do a search for 'custom'.The install of the Grub Customizer default install location was in EFI System Partition, with no option to change that, so exited the setup.
If so, mark it for full removal and purge if possible.
Or better yet, Timeshift back to before you tried to install it.

Re: Mint 20.2 Cinnamon, Grub Customizer
I tried both Synaptic and your codes in Terminal. Grub Customizer is NOT installed.
As I said above, I stopped the install process when the default was set to install in EFI, yet it does seem that some part of Customizer did get installed anyway.
As I watch the boot up process, certain parts of it seem to be repeating = takes more time to complete the boot.
I do not have a TimeShift going back that far.

Re: Mint 20.2 Cinnamon, Grub Customizer
I've tried to find a tool to edit whats inside the EFI, so far not found any such tool
Re: Mint 20.2 Cinnamon, Grub Customizer
I've checked and found that I have a time shift, it goes back to the last day I used Mint Cinnamon 20.1
If you can tell me that its safe to roll back to 20.1 and start again to update from there, then perhaps thats what I should do?

Re: Mint 20.2 Cinnamon, Grub Customizer
I sure wish someone smarter than me would step in here.
Yes, it is safe to Timeshift back to 20.1, even though I have never done it
I believe you can Timeshift forward again to 20.2 if you have a need to.
Timeshift really does take care of these things usually, but not always.

Re: Mint 20.2 Cinnamon, Grub Customizer
It's a while since I had to do a timeshift restore, check the options it offers to make sure it re-installs grub.
The easiest way to have a look inside your EFI partition is mount it with disks and then you can browse inside it with your file manager. Don't expect you will see anything of use with whatever grub customizer has done.

Re: Mint 20.2 Cinnamon, Grub Customizer
Time shift did get me up and running again, and as you said, looking inside the EFI partition was useless.
The problem remains of slow boot, so likely I'll have to reinstall Mint 20.2, unless someone has another option
Many thanks
dan
