Exactly the same on my machine. The problem happens on 5.11.0-34, but doesn't happen when I revert to 5.11.0-27.jcoles wrote: ⤴Wed Sep 08, 2021 2:25 pm I have exactly the same behaviour after updating to kernel 5.11.0-34 from 5.11.0-27.
CD/DVD tray does not open when cold-booting from the previous kernel, confirming that this must be kernel-related.
This is not a show-stopper for me, but it is a little annoying.

The DVD media may be bad. Boot the system from disk and see if you can read the DVD.
What connections are your optical drives on and which one ejected?DisturbedDragon wrote: ⤴Sat Sep 11, 2021 5:45 pm My main did this today for the first time. Self-built listed in my signature. Kernel 5.11.0-34 It ejected one of my two optical drives.
Both are connected to motherboard sata. The Asus DVD drive ejected. Pioneer BluRay drive did not.gittiest personITW wrote: ⤴Sat Sep 11, 2021 5:49 pm What connections are your optical drives on and which one ejected?

Hehe, looks like this bug affects the future 8.x kernel series too!
