How to Decode LibreOffice Writer's Help

Post by Alvin »

A simple beginner's task: Setting up the default opening screen. I went to Help on the menu bar to learn how. It took me to an internet website from which I had to choose from among about a dozen guide books that I could buy or download. I chose one from Writer and downloaded it. Opening it, I was presented with an index. But it was not an index of the contents, but rather an abbreviated index of various subjects, none among which seemed to contain how to setup the default opening screen.

Could someone advise, please?

Did you install the appropriate libreoffice help package?

Libreoffice now always opens help in your default web-browser but it should be using a local installed help, not getting it from the Internet as you appear to be.
Certainly there should not be a choice of different help sites available, just local installed version viewed in the web-browser
