Recently, few weeks ago I have the similar problem . My Dell Vostro laptop with 4gb RAM became freeze when I copied files greater than 1 gb from laptop to external harddisk. Fortunatelly after my laptop upgraded to 8gb RAM the problem is gone and now I can copy huge files from laptop to external harddisk without any problem. I am neewby in Linux therefore I don't understand why upgrade ram can solve that problem.Freeze while copying

Freeze while copying

I just add another 4gb ram at second slot and not replace with 8gb ram. My problems are not only laptop became freeze when execute copy huge files to external hard disk but also network and mouse are broken also.
