So I use Gwenview, and it has been crashing with some images. I spent some time looking it up, and found that it has to do with Exiv2 which is out of date.
Current / Software Manager: 0.25-3.1
Exiv2 Site: 0.27.4
I was wondering if it's safe to update this or if mint needs to use the older version.
Would it be smart to update Exiv2

I cannot find anything on upgrading exiv2.
Maybe you should consider upgrading to mint 20.2 which has exiv version 0.27.3.

I have the same problem: Pix is crashing since the last update, if I use exiv2 and XML-tools. I need as already said libexiv2 > 0.27.4. My OS is Mint 19.3 Tricia and Upgrade is not possible, because I use an Asus eee PC, which is 32-bit. (Tricia should be supported until April 2025.) Where can I get this lib?

Tricia is supported up to 2023-04. However LMDE5 is coming soon (when it's ready) and that mint version will still support 32bit.

It would be smart and I will, but I need exiv2 now.
