P.S.
How I added Startpage to LM in the past Or do I need this extension additionally?
Will the addition of the extension still support the fund for the LM project?

Hi greengreen. I just heard about StartPage about 5 days ago, so don't know much about it. I have used DDG for years.
We certainly want to hear about these issues, so we appreciate you posting it. But a lot of people are not likely to respond since it is not related to LM, or at least I'm thinking it is not.
Keep up the good posts

Startpage to me is frustrating, I just delete it.
I set DDG as the default search engine and forget it.

Hi,mikeflan
Hi,AZgl1500
Thanks for your comment.
Startpage is perfect for me.
It is also an engine that supports LM project.
But when I register with Firefox in a way that LM guides,
I'm not happy with its behavior.
I'm wondering if adding an extension to improve its behavior will support LM project.

I’m using Startpage on macOS (Safari) and Mint 19.3, mostly with LibreWolf, but also with Firefox (92, don’t like FF + don’t like too many updates).greengreen wrote: ⤴Thu Oct 21, 2021 8:12 pm Why doesn't Startpage jump directly to the search result output screen?
I love Startpage.
However, I do not understand your question?
Typing Mint +Enter changes the page to the list of results, Linux Mint being the second entry.
Is this what you want? What is the reaction on your system?
I did never click the “Add to Firefox” button, this top line is still visible when I start FF, as is the button at the bottom.
The Settings seem to be identical, + Startpage is set as my “Home”.
I do not have the cloudy background, though.
[I’ve tried the 20.2 iso version with FF 89, same, search Mint +Enter sends me to the list of results]

Hi,sanmig
Thank you for your interest.
My worries
Typing word into URL bar ,changes the page to homepage of Startpage instead of the page to the list of results.

Re: Why doesn't Startpage jump directly to the search result output screen?
Hmm, didn’t try that before, but setting Home to croockle and typing just Mint in the URL bar it directly goes to the startpage result listing, it works as intended.
When clicking the URL bar, the previous http…le.com is selected, the context menu has the Linux Mint icon with startpage search in the first line. I just type Mint + Enter and …
Strange, is it the FF version?
Try to boot the 20.2 iso (the live version) and set the searchengine to startpage?

You are a direct sponsor. It's amazing.
I'm a modest supporter of LM.
But is it related to the problem I'm facing?

Re: Why doesn't Startpage jump directly to the search result output screen?
In the 20.2 live session I’ve additionally installed FF 93.0 (64-bit).
Typed “linux mint searchengines” in the URL bar (per default the searchengine is croockle).
After the annoying “Accept” it presents a list of results, the “linuxmint.com/searchengines.php” is first.
from there select Startpage, right click URL, “Add ‘Startpage’” -
Check Settings: Default searchengine still is croockle,
but Startpage can be selected (from below the “Wikipedia” entry), OK.
Close FF, start it again (93): Home is FF page, reminder: FF is not default browser, - OK.
Type Linux Mint in URL bar +Enter:
-> List of Startpage results: So it’s not the FF version.
Rem: At typing the first letter into URL bar, the drop field indicates “L - Search with Startpage”,
I think that would be the key to show the actually used search engine: - Issue in language settings? Your .iso (live) session is English?
- Additionally, this is the Startpage landing page from Spain, no clouds in the background … ?
