[SOLVED] Cannot Add the PCSX2 PPA to my software sources

Post by milan777 »

Hello team,

I am trying to install the PCSX2 emulator on my machine. In order to add the PCSX2 PPA, I am using the following command:

Code: Select all

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:gregory-hainaut/pcsx2.official.ppa
The terminal prompts the following:

Code: Select all

Cannot add PPA: ''This PPA does not support focal''.
I tried to

Code: Select all

sudo apt update
and

Code: Select all

sudo apt install --reinstall ca-certificates
, still without solution. Cannot find anything else about it online.

Could someone please assist?

The problem is there in the terminal output: "Cannot add PPA: ''This PPA does not support focal''.".

'Focal' is Ubuntu 20.04, and if you're running Mint 20.x this is the Ubuntu version your Mint is based on.

If you look at the launchpad host site for this ppa (https://launchpad.net/~gregory-hainaut/ ... ficial.ppa), you'll see it hasn't been updated since 2018.

This is why it won't install ... there's not much backwards compatibility in Linux at all so the ppas have to be packaged for a specific release.

The only thing to be done here IMO is find something else that does what you want. No idea if there's one myself.

PCSX2 1.5 is available.

I Found it in the synaptic Package Manager under pcsx2:i386, not played a game on it yet(my PS3 controller needs new buttons) but it can fully configure.

Version 1.7 can be found in the Software Center, but it is a flatpak version.

All,

Thank you for the replies. The emulator can be installed without adding its PPA repository.

I skipped this step in the guide and it works.
