GRUB is a mess, can I edit it?

Post by jaqian »

Hi,
GRUB is a mess. When it starts up it displays two different kernels for Mint 7 and two memtests for those kernels along with winXP. Is there anyway of hiding all this and just show Linux & Windows as choice. Same problem exists under Mint 8.

I was thinking of deleting some entries from grub.list to clean it up but not sure, wanted to ask here.

Yes, Edit the file /boot/grub/menu.lst and remove the stanzas you do not want in there.
For more info on the file's format: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/GrubHowto

Code: Select all

sudo gedit /boot/grub/menu.lst
