I have been using the "normal" left-button-select/middle-button-paste for ages.
Recently it stopped working for me.
What should I check to get it back?
I am on a completely up-to-date Linux Mint 20.2 "Uma".
TiA!

Re: middle-button pasting stopped working for me
Does your middle click work, as in is the mouse working properly?
Silly questions but best to check it. Is it a wireless mouse? Change batteries.
Have you remapped anything recently?
When did it last work?
I suppose you tried a reboot?
Maybe you would like to follow number 5 in the following link as we have no idea what hardware or whether it is a touchpad etc.

Re: middle-button pasting stopped working for me
Thank for the hints.
Sorry I didn't provide the needed info.
I don't think this is really relevant, but I might be wrong.
I am pretty sure middle button is working properly.
It stopped working somewhen about 2/3 weeks ago.
I keep this laptop strictly up-to date, I run UpdateManager daily (usually right after boot).
I am unsure about what update triggered the problem; I didn't notice it immediately and when I did I blamed the mouse at first, then I tried with another (wired) one with same results.
I am rebooting daily as this is a portable (Lenovo Y50-70, if it matters) and I do not hibernate it.
This is indeed a wireless mouse (hp) and I recently (i.e.: after problem started) changed batteries.
Thanks

Re: middle-button pasting stopped working for me
If it was an update that caused the problem, you could wait for an imminent kernel update and see if that fixes it, or make a note of what applications you've installed in the last 2 or 3 weeks and Timeshift to before that, test, reinstall the applications, test, do a couple of updates at a time, test etc.
