Cinnamon wont allow windows on top half of monitor
Hi all,
I've recently switched from ubuntu due to some driver issues, everything has worked great except one of my 4 monitors won't allow me to put windows on the top 1/3 of the screen. I've attached images of my monitor and where it allows me to place windows, and a screenshot of my monitor config.
Thanks in advance

. This will let us know how Mint sees your hardware. Please also provide the output of
xrandr
and enclose the results in code tags. Make sure to let us know which connection of the ones listed in xrandr is the monitor having issues.A woman typing on a laptop with LM20.3 Cinnamon.

Re: Cinnamon wont allow windows on top half of monitor
You do not need to use sudo with xrandr. It's better to get in the habit of only using sudo when necessary and it is not necessary for all terminal commands.
When reading xrandr output,
You indicated the "problem" monitor is DisplayPort-2. Is that the yellow one in the Display app screenshot?
Are any of the monitors overlapping each other in the layout? The first line in the code I put above lists the total screen size as 4128 x 1980 and I'm trying to determine how that is achieved if the edges of each monitor just meet exactly.
When reading xrandr output,
*
= current resolution and +
= preferred resolution.

Re: Cinnamon wont allow windows on top half of monitor
Sorry for the late reply, I was busy writing an essay.
The Issue is with the green one. If it matters it's an old tv I put on a VESA mount and set it to rotate counter clockwise. I can confirm it worked in windows but it inconsistently had similar issues in ubuntu.
I checked and no monitors were overlapping

Re: Cinnamon wont allow windows on top half of monitor
For reference, I've attached a picture of my setup.
The monitor on the right is the one having issues, you can see the top portion of the display is unused since it won't let me move any windows above that.

Re: Cinnamon wont allow windows on top half of monitor
Sorry, it was too large so I had to crop a bunch
Re: Cinnamon wont allow windows on top half of monitor
Except the image you have in your first post does show the upper part being used (if I am looking at that image correctly).
When I open the Display app, I get the colored box in the upper left corner of my screen. If I look at the image in your first post, I see a green box in the upper left corner of the screen. So the entire screen is being used.
Is it all apps that do not go above that level or just the browser app?
Have you tried making any changes in the Windows Tiling app?
Or on the Behavior tab in the Windows app?
Maybe someone else with a similar set-up will have some ideas.

Re: Cinnamon wont allow windows on top half of monitor
I have not tried to make any changes in either of those apps but I am unsure of what I would need to change.
No apps will go above that level.
After additional testing, I've found that neither desktop icons nor the right-click menu will work in that section as well

Re: Cinnamon wont allow windows on top half of monitor
I do not have a comparable multi-monitor set-up, so I am not able to make specific suggestions.
Hopefully, someone else will be able to provide guidance.

Are you using conky in one of the desktops? I experienced similar condition while playing with widgets' positions.
I had to enable/disable each conky widget to find the problematic ones.
