[SOLVED] Minor Annoyance with Flameshot After Upgrading to Una
So far after upgrading to Linux Mint Una Cinnamon on a 2011 iMac, the only minor annoyance I'm having is when Flameshot (0.6.0, deb version not Flatpak) launches at startup, I get this strange icon in the panel. Re-launching Flameshot resolves the issue. I checked Startup Applications, and no changes were made with the Una upgrade. I also checked Software Center, and 0.6.0 is the latest deb in the software center (where I originally installed Flameshot). If someone has a way to report this to Flameshot's developers to resolve in a future update, that would be great, but the annoyance is overall pretty minor and not bad if it's the only "issue" I find after upgrading.

Should have said it resolves the issue until the next reboot.

This icon is appearing even if I have Flameshot disabled in Startup Applications, so it seems to be deeper than Flameshot. I'm going to turn off all Startup Applications and re-enable each one at a time. Once I find more of a culprit, I'll report back.

We are interested in hearing the resolution of this.
And if you click on that icon what opens if anything? This icon is appearing even if I have Flameshot disabled in Startup Applications

Clicking on the icon itself doesn't open anything. Right-clicking on it and clicking close closes out the icon. It was also quitting out Flameshot, hence why I thought Flameshot was the culprit. However, even with Flameshot disabled at startup, it was still appearing. I'm slowly working through my startup apps and will report back again as soon as I have extra details.

It happened again today with OpenSnitch enabled at startup. I'm going to disable OpenSnitch and slowly re-enable the remaining apps and see what happens. If the rest check out, OpenSnitch is the culprit.

It also happens with OpenSnitch disabled but Redshift enabled. I'll keep testing.

It also happens with System Reports enabled. So I'm not finding one culprit, but multiple culprits in which it occurs.

It's possible this has little or nothing to do with Una (LM20.3) since we have not had a single person other than you report this. This is pretty obvious - you couldn't miss it.

Hey, that cutycapt is pretty cool. It's in my Software Manager. After installing try this:
Then use imagemagick or something else to crop and put it all together. No browser needed at all.
Code: Select all

Re: Minor Annoyance with Flameshot After Upgrading to Una
I think I solved the issue. I'll test it more over the weekend and report back.
When I removed, then re-added an application to the Startup Applications window (not just enabled or disabled them, in my case I just did Flameshot since that's where I thought the culprit originated), and rebooted, the issue went away. It looks like something might have glitched with the preferences file that controls my Startup Applications list, and by removing and re-adding an application to it to make a change in the actual listing of applications "refreshed" something.

It's back unfortunately. I'm going to try to get, review, and post some startup logs to see if I can pinpoint anything unusual in there.

Here's the latest startup log file. I looked over it, but not seeing anything out of the ordinary.

Now the issue isn't occurring with every reboot. Sometimes it occurs, sometimes it doesn't. Not sure what to think at the moment.

I'm moving to Pop!_OS as my Linux distro, so I no longer need to resolve this.
