I'm running Linux Mint 20.3 64-bit, Cinnamon 5.2.7, Linux Kernel 5.13.0-1026-oem, more specs below
It usually happens between 15 and 120 minutes into my session, there doesn't seem to be that much of a pattern to it. It seems whenever it does happen I have Firefox open, but I also tend to always be using it, so not sure if it causes anything or it's such a coincidence.
This is a beefy 32GB RAM laptop and sometimes the only only thing open is Firefox; I also have dual boot with Windows 10 on it and have tried using that for many hours with a combination of browsing/games/films and haven't had any problems, so I don't think it's a faulty hardware issue;
What I've tried from seeing other similar posts:
- Disable all window effects on Cinnamon
- Disable all non native applets and desklets
- Disable most Firefox plugins (I keep my password manager, adblocker and container tabs)
- Disable some custom startup applications programs I had
- Make sure there are no crontab related tasks running
- Update my system and packages
Lastly, I tried going through the journal logs, it seems the last thing just before freezing is often rtkit-daemon supervising multiple things in quick succession - Below more details:
