MOUSE messed up in (some) DOOM programs.

Post by Flemur »

Previously if I could run freedoom1 and freedoom2 and several linux installs, now I mostly get this problem (after some update - I don't play doom very often, so who knows what the update was and when):

-- the character (the shooter) spins and occasionally moves about randomly. Completely unplayable.
-- In a hexen game the character stares at the ceiling while he spins around.

In a fairly stock Mint 20.3 Xfce, freedoom1,2 works OK, but if I install doomsday, I get the weird mouse behavior again - and doomsday seems to "take over" the other doom programs, so running freedoom1,2 starts doomsday with the bad mouse behavior. Freedoom1,2 don't work on Arch, although they used to.

Researching didn't provide any good answers except perhaps the problem might have something to do with "DGA mouse", or "mouse y-axis" settings, or some xorg.conf setting.

I'm using a logitech 510 "unifying" mouse although a regular USB mouse also didn't work, but it didn't work in a different way.
