Elements 5 in Wine issues...

Postby ExilePhotog » Thu Dec 03, 2009 12:14 am

Hey all, I'm a linux newbie. Been running Ubuntu on my home file server for about 6 months, and finally made the jump over to Mint 8 on my main laptop. I do both photography and web design, and am trying to run Photoshop Elements 5 in Wine 1.01 (I believe it's the most current stable version?). I installed it, and the initial elements welcome screen will come up.

From there, I choose the Edit & Enhance photos option, and I keep getting the same error messages:

First, it will come up and say "Invalid Address".

I hit OK, then get:

"The action you have requested could not be completed because the application is not responding. It may still be loading or waiting for a response from you".

What am I missing? I'm not real comfortable w/the command line yet, so I'm hoping I can get this running through the GUI.

    Photoshop Elements:
Photoshop Elements 4 and 5 won't work unless you install Microsoft's ODBC (e.g. using winetricks mdac28). One user recommends doing 'wget http://kegel.com/wine/winetricks; sh winetricks fakeie6 mdac28 jet40' before installing.
Photoshop Elements 6 currently doesn't work because the installer doesn't create manifests for MSVCRT assemblies.
