Anyone know how to install Tk for Ruby? (Mint Xfce)

Post by M_Mynaardt »

Hi there!

I've been messing around with Ruby rather a lot to help pass the time, and thought I'd try my hand at some GUI stuff.

I did try looking at sites like this one from Thought Co..
No joy, so far, though. :(

I tried this command from the above site (keeping in mind it's from 2019, and recommended for Ubuntu):

Code: Select all

$ sudo apt-get install libtcltk-ruby
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Package libtcltk-ruby is not available, but is referred to by another package.
This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or
is only available from another source

E: Package 'libtcltk-ruby' has no installation candidate
Does anyone out there know how to install this libtcltk-ruby package on Mint?
I couldln't seem to find it via Synaptic.

Per neofetch, I'm using Linux Mint 20.2 x86_64 with the Xfce DE.

OR is there an alternative to the standard Tk I should try for creating Ruby GUI code?

Thanks ever so much in advance...
