Try to reinstall it.
https://askubuntu.com/questions/1386009 ... 10#1386010

You may have to remove it before the reinstall.

So I uninstalled and re-installed it and have noticed that I don't seem to have any Irish, UK or US channels.
Iraqi and Ukrainian are working but since I can't speak either language they aren't much good to me.

Is there any way to add a channel list to Hypnotix?

Code: Select all

#EXTINF:-1 tvg-name="CNN" tvg-logo="https://i.imgur.com/vyrc1I1.png" group-title="USA",CNN
https://cnn-cnninternational-1-de.samsung.wurl.com/manifest/playlist.m3u8
The providers list contains many entries like the above. I can paste more here if you can't find them by web search. There are other more errr.... permissive lists available that may need a bit of editing for Hypnotix. My TV viewing is mainly news so I haven't tested those lists.
Or do the English channels appear in the Hypnotix menu and simply not work ?

First thought is geo-blocking but cnn-international or bbc-world-service shouldn't have that problem but I'm in Canada and things may differ elsewhere.
If you followed the install advice suggested earlier you're using Hypnotix 2.6 ? I'm using 2.0 which is quite different from what's displayed here:

Sorry, I shouldn't have used the question mark as the answer was kind of obvious.
Since you have mpv player this should work:

Code: Select all

 mpv http://103.199.161.254/Content/bbcworld/Live/Channel\(BBCworld\)/index.m3u8
and if that works the same Channel should work in Hypnotix.
Many channels don't work for various reasons, account needed, region blocks, dead links, whatever. I suspect all the Irish channels just don't work.
Look again at the link in my last post and apply your own judgement.

It does work through MPV the Irish channels used to work though.

The point of testing BBC World News with mpv was to open that same channel in Hypnotix so you can know Hypnotix is working.
The default playlist provided has free content without 'grey areas'. Some other playlists available play looser with the rules resulting in more working channels.
Using vlc to test the channels from Ireland results in '403 forbidden' which could be geo-blocking. If you're in Ireland and they don't work someone needs to update the playlist.
