gmail and eml files Solved

Post by daddyo » Mon Dec 07, 2009 10:11 pm

I use gmail for my email client and recently received an attachment that is saved in the .eml format. Does anyone know how to convert that into another format so that I can read it? I have been using Mint 7 for about 1 month. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

.eml files are Windows Outlook Express email files. You can import and read them with Thunderbird and I think any good email client. You can also just open the .eml with a text editor (gedit) and look at it - it is just a silly MS format text file....

I already opened it with gedit and the entire file is nothing but unreadable code. Is there a function in gedit that I am missing that will "translate" the file so that I can read it?
