(Solved) Linux Replacement for Mint 19.1 in 2023
Which Linux distributions are recommended for users who have been happy with Mint 19.1 cinnamon, when replacement is necessary in 2023? This user has an old desktop system box, an HP Elite 8300. It is now about 10 years old but not showing any signs of old age that I can notice. My HDD has a 500MB capacity and I have 16MB of RAM. I use it for home computing: banking, gmail, news and information lookup. Nothing challenging.

Re: Linux Replacement for Mint 19.1 in 2023
What would be the problem with using Linux Mint 20.x, which is supported until April 2025?
Have you tested this version without installing it? Did it have any problems?

The specs I found for this indicate it has a quad-core 3rd-gen Intel CPU.
You could definitely do LM20 versions (good until April 2025) with it. You could also test to see how it works with Mint 21 (which will be coming out later this summer).

SMG: Fine! I'll wait for 21's availability, this summer. Thanks!

You can test basic hardware compatibility right now. Download Ubuntu 22.04 and run it from a live session. LM21 will be use the same code base and, perhaps more importantly in this context, the same kernel.
