Thunderbird: viewed emails are light in dark mode

I've Thunderbird 91.9.1 on Mint 20.3 Cinnamon. My system themes are dark. Within Thunderbird, I have tried both the' system' theme and the 'dark' theme.' Whichever of those I use, the main window - listing emails - is dark, as is the compose window; but when reading emails, or when setting preferences, things are light. Does anyone else have this problem (or might it owe to something customised in my setup)? Thanks.

Check the thunderbird addons, you may have installed the themes add on. You will find it in the following...

I had the same problem. search for this theme: Dark Reader 4.9.39 in the Addons and Themes section. It fixed my email text window

terry_dwyer: thanks. Dark Reader works on my Windows PC but not on my Linux Mint PC (or not on one of my Mint PCs; later I will try it on a second Mint PC).
