Have Midnight Commander (mc) 2:4.6.2~git20090311-4ubuntu1 and using in xfce4-terminal in Mint 7 Gloria.

This Midnight command does not support the use of the mouse in the "edit" screen
and does not have the mouseable buttons at the screen bottom.
Command in this Midnight Commander are control key sequences.

In Ubuntu 8.04 with Midnight Commander, I can move the cursor via the mouse.
Cut and Paste into the "Edit" window.
The screen bottom has 10 buttons=function keys that are mouse clickable.

How do I get the functionality back into Midnight Commander that I had in
Ubuntu, Puppy Linux, and other Linuxes that support mc?

Thank you for your help.

Show us your output to "mc --version" run in a terminal. You should see this:
  • GNU Midnight Commander 4.6.2-pre1
Virtual File System: tarfs, extfs, cpiofs, ftpfs, fish
    With builtin Editor
Using system-installed S-Lang library with terminfo database
    With subshell support as default
    With support for background operations
With mouse support on xterm and Linux console
    With internationalization support
    With multiple codepages support
    Data types: char 8 int 32 long 32 void * 32 off_t 64 ecs_char 8
Check to see if you have the mouse support line first. If you do then you might be doing something wrong.
