Upgrade from LM19 to LM19.3
How do I upgrade from LM19 to LM19.3 please?
I have had an issue for months with mounting my SD cards, which I thought had been resolved, if I upgrade from LM19 to 19.3, will this clear any existing glitches in my system, I would be happy to go from LM19.3 to 20.
or would it be best to do a clean upgrade to LM20.
Thank you.

Re: Upgrade from LM19 to LM19.3
Why not just give it a test with the latest live Mint and see if the SD cards are detected?
Also it will help if you post your inxi report so the guys here may tell you whats wrong with the card reader.

Re: Upgrade from LM19 to LM19.3
As you live with the problems since months (that are to my understanding at least 2, possibly more), I would wait another month or so and then install Mint 21.

Not quite. Displaying terminal output in a post has a graphic on using code tags. You will want to provide the output of

Re: Upgrade from LM19 to LM19.3
You have 2 choices to use the code-tags correctly:
Either you click the button (which you obviously did) and place the cursor between the 2 tags before you paste The info.
Or you paste the info, mark the complete info (not the starting text) and click then the button; then the tags get automatically placed correctly.

Re: Upgrade from LM19 to LM19.3
That is the correct information and you were very close to getting the codes tag correct. If you click the Edit button for the post (has a pencil icon on it), you will see you added the code tags and have a space between them for the results, but somehow the results ended up just after the close code tag. You would want your end result to be
Results
.Looking at the output, I do not see the card reader mentioned, but that may be because LM19 is using an older version of inxi and not showing the usb hubs.

It looks great.
It also looks like we found the card reader.

What specifically is/was the issue? Were they only mounting some of the time? Or were only some cards mounting? Or were they showing up only in certain places (such as in Disks, but not in Files)?slinger1953 wrote: ⤴Thu May 26, 2022 11:42 amI have had an issue for months with mounting my SD cards, which I thought had been resolved...

I just booted to a live session of LM20.3 on my laptop which has an SD card reader (just a single slot reader). That reader does not show up in
I don't know if that means yours will show up in LM20.3, but mine did.

, but as soon as I popped a card into the reader, I had a pop-up window which asked me how I wanted to read the card. I also had an icon on the desktop and it was showing in File Manager. I don't know if that means yours will show up in LM20.3, but mine did.

Re: Upgrade from LM19 to LM19.3
Hello SMG,
this was my original Topic (I hope this link works) viewtopic.php?f=49&t=372583
I thought the issue was solved after following the advice, but when I needed to use one SD card out of four I was back to square one. no SD cards would open again.
Thanks

The link worked just fine. I did my check with Cinnamon. (I do not have a copy of MATE available.)slinger1953 wrote: ⤴Sat May 28, 2022 12:01 amthis was my original Topic (I hope this link works) viewtopic.php?f=49&t=372583
There have been many bug fixes to kernels over the time period where you mentioned it worked and then stopped working. Additionally, I would presume there have been changes to MATE which could affect mounting of an external media in the upgrades between LM19 to LM19.3 (or an LM20 version).
Without really knowing why the problem is happening, it's really a total guess to tell you yes or no that upgrading will help.
Looking at the investigation, did you ever check in System Reports to see if there were any crashes listed? Or check in syslog or dmesg after you insert the SD card to see if there are any messages about what is happening?
