Applet replacement for Cinnamon Alarm Clock

Post by Verdy »

Hi all!

I want to ask for advice on how to replace the Alarm Clock Cinnamon applet.
The latest version of Alarm Clock 0.3.4 was released 7 years ago and now it can no longer work properly without creating errors.
We need a simple alarm clock that allows you to create several events, a sound signal is not required, it is enough if a text file with the name of the event starts at a certain time.
Thank you for your help!

Thank you for your reply.
But my perfectionism does not allow setting an alarm clock in the size of half a gigabyte.

There exists the cinnamon-timer applet. Works perfectly here. Simply look into the applet settings.

Unfortunately, this applet as an alarm clock is extremely inconvenient. You can not set several events in advance, select the day of the week, set the exact alarm time using the number keys. As a timer, it is not bad, but as an alarm clock, it does not have a large and convenient functionality.
But anyway, thanks for your help, I really appreciate it.

I use rainlendar2.
This is more calendar based.
Loads of options for scheduling, reminders, calendar types, notifications, etc.

There is a free personal version as well as an inexpensive professional app.

Another option is the calendar in Thunderbird. With repeating tasks you should be able to do this.

Rainlendar would also be an option. I had used it for some years, but I never became comfortable with the design as a desktop background instead of a separate window. That makes alt-tab impossible to switch to it.
