It doesn't seem possible. I use Brasero to make CDs

Have a look at asunder in the repositories.

Honestly, I don't understand the question at all.
If I have a CD, why do I need to record it?
Is it perhaps more about ripping?
So the reading, converting and saving on the hard drive?
K3b is far and away the first tool of choice.
Also suitable for copying.

Re: Can I record an CD with Rhytmbox ?
the go-to resource for anything 'techie' is the Linux Documentation Project or tldp.org.
All the HOW TO's in one place. The one you're looking for, if I'm not mistaken is https://tldp.org/HOWTO/MP3-CD-Burning/index.html.
That should be enough to get started, and to finish even.
