New Keyring Creation

Post by dencassmint »

Hello,
I just installed Linux mint 20.3 cinammon on 2 laptops. It runs great and I got Brave browser running.
1 laptop has a problem running Brave browser. Brave runs only in 1 workspace and when I try to start another
instance in another workspace the program presents a
" Key Ring Creation " window with this message text:

Choose password for new keyring

An application wants to create a new keyring called default keyring.
Choose the password you want to use for it.
Password,
confirm,
continue,
cancel.

If I cancel out of it Brave browser won't run. What should I do with this window.
It seems to be preventing Brave browser from starting up.
I've never seen this message before - is it related to LinuxMint
or is it a Brave thing?

cheers,
Denis

you have 2 choices, create a keyring, that means a password will be stored in your Passwords and Keys program Login and every time you start the computer or run Brave it needs password to open it.

or make Brave run with no password. rightclick menu button > Configure > Menu > Open the menu editor : click internet and doubleclick Brave = then add this before %U --password-store=basic in Command
something like brave --password-store=basic %U

Thanks for the reply.
I'd like to try running Brave without the password. I right clicked the LM menu button on bottom screen left corner, and 3 selections were:
about, configure, and ' Remove Menu ' . The about menu is about cinnamon menu, the ' configure ' does nothing and
I didn't try selecting the Remove ' Menu ' selection.
Should I click the third selection; 'Remove ' Menu' ?
cheers,
Denis

if your Configure won't open with rightclick something is wrong. try it again if not in Terminal cinnamon-menu-editor
