Here is something I am currently struggling with.
After 20 years I am finally back on IRC and loving it. I want to run an IRC bot to act as a fileserver. People can @monkeybus to automatically get my filelist and then !foo.extension to receive whatever file.
I'll be honest. 30 years using Linux and I haven't a clue how to go about it. I am guessing a Hexchat Python script could trap the requests, then pipe them to Nginx to serve the file. As old as IRC is, I thought there'd be more info on this. A lot of users seem to be using Windows Mirc plugins to serve files.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Thanks a lot, fols.

Re: Running a standalone IRC bot
Are you really set on using IRC?
Seems like vsftpd might be a better solution.
