Hello,
I'm interested in flight simulators, especially X-Plane.
A radar app is supposed to show a window with symbolic airplanes that are in the air.
There is an xpl file that should be loaded when x-plane starts.

in terminal shows a ldd lin.xpl

linux-vdso.so.1 (0x00007fff436b6000)
libpng12.so.0 => not found
libGL.so.1 => /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libGL.so.1 (0x00007f9a01dd2000)

is those package available in linux mint 21 ? or have i to turn back to mint 20- there it works.

Hello joeair welcome to the Forum.
Please share your system info by going to:
→→→→ Menu/System Reports/System Information/click "Copy"
and pasting it here.
(Equivalently, you can use the command inxi -Fxxxmprz on the Terminal.)

That is a deprecated library (libpng12), not available on the newer versions of Ubuntu/Mint anymore. I think you would have to go back to Mint 17 for that. Mint 19 (Ubuntu 18.04), Mint 20 (Ubuntu 20.04) and Mint 21 (Ubuntu 22.04) have libpng16. Last time libpng12 was in the repositories was Ubuntu 16.04 to my knowledge.

If it's working on Mint 20 then great! Not sure how it works.

Or you have to ask the developers of your radar app to update their app's dependencies. Do you have any links to the radar app? It sounds like they are not maintaining it any more.

why start the x-plane installer, for what ? x-plane installer is also a self repair installer which
loads missing or destroyed files, only for x-plan itself.

The radar with missing libpng is an addon called World Traffic. The WT installer and the x-plane installer
doesn't install necessary files in linux.
