I did a hard delete on some files that were on an NTFS partition that I share with my Windows dual boot. They were all created in and deleted by Mint. I've tried to locate them with R-Linux (which I'm new to) but it apparently won't recognize NTFS.
Does anyone know how to fix that issue, or know of another program with GUI that I can use to at least see if the files are there? I tried testdisk but it was a pain. I imagine other command line options will be similar

Are you talking about this: https://www.r-studio.com/free-linux-recovery/? As I read it, doesn't support NTFS.
TestDisk is the standard Linux tool. If you want GUI, you'll probably do better tackling this from Windows.

Yeah that's it. Bah humbug. Maybe I better spend more time with testdisk then. I rarely use windows and don't trust most of the free tools for it.

If you need to do anything like recovery on NTFS, use Windows. NTFS has a few of those undocumented features that MS likes so much. Linux tools aren't reliable.

any recommendation for reliable safe and free software? I see easeus has one but the free version is only good for 2 GB and I want to recover more than that and I'll recreate the data (though it would be time consuming) before I spend $70
