[solved] Stuttering Audacious

Post by kuifje09 »

I like Audacious much and use it often.

But there is a problem. Since, not sure, a few month I cannot skip forward or backwards.
Then the sound becomes horrible, stuttering. Like it has skipped between the tracks or so...

Same happens when you try to set time-points (ctrl+1/2/3) to repeat a small part . Same sound efffect.

I was silently hoping for some update, but several updates later, no updaes solving this problem.

Sad, I was using the skip, to repeat bits of the the track for study.
I can do the sam with audacity, but that is not as easy as audacious is.

Anyone some same issues, maby some solution?

I don't know whether this can solve your problem or not but there has been a newer version of Audacious (4.2, July 2022).
You could get it - at your own risk - from Panda Jim's ppa.

Thanks MiZoG

Mine on LM 19.3 is indeed an older version, 3.9-2

Is there any chance Mint will update the player? it is out there since July this year....

Latest version ought to be 4.2 while several in been between too.
Why does LM skip or loose track of nerwer versions?

But reading this on audacious, it seems clear :
"Note that the versions of Audacious available in Debian stable and Ubuntu LTS releases tend to be rather out of date. Panda Jim of ubuntuhandbook.org maintains a PPA with newer versions for Ubuntu users."

So, going for Jim may seem the option, or compile it myself.

Thanks anyway.

I think suggesting going for a new version is a bit presumptuous. Is it just Audacious that does this? Have you tried going into Audacious settings and trying a different audio output module?

Thanks Rob, It was indeed an outputmodule.

Never expected that, but in this case, the sox resampler was the trouble maker.
Even no need for it, so it is switched of and all plays well.
