The yellow is how much room on the stick the actual partition takes up.
The 6.1 gig is the total room taken up by 7 items on the stick.

So, You have a 8 Gig stick with one main partition. The partition takes up 7.1 gigs of the stick.

It is complicated because I have a stick called Ventoy with a partition called Ventoy and in it ther is a folder called Ventoy too :) but I am sure to get this in Properties of the partition so it displays only the content of this partition

If it helps, Fire up "Disks" which should be in 'accessories' in your menus. Then with your stick plugged in you can look at the layout of your stick. Here is mine for an example:
ventoy.png
The label on the stick is Ventoy. There are actually two partitions. One that is hidden for the boot requirements and then one for you to copy your *.iso files too. When you plugin your stick then mint should automatically mount the main partition so you can copy your *.iso files to it.

In your file manager my layout on the main partition is:
ventoy2.png
Never mind the 'RMM' as that I added manually for some remote management software. You should basically see all your *.iso files.

Back to the original question ---

Of the total space available on the stick your ventoy partition takes up 7.1 GB of available partition space.
Of the total space on the ventoy partition you have 7 files or folders taking up 6.1 GB of available space in that partition.

Is there a problem using Ventoy?

Its certainly not going to tell you by looking at properties. My defacto way of looking at partitions and such is to use the program called "Disks". This should be installed by default on your system. Disks should be in your menu under Accessories. Fire it up and select the usb stick to see information on the stick.

If you do not have it installed then you can install it:

Code: Select all

sudo apt install gnome-disk-utility
Lets see what it shows...

That explains why you posted a File Manager screenshot in response to a request for one from Disks.

By the way, File Manager is notoriously imprecise at measuring used/available space.
And filling the file system to the brim? Really, you must know better.

Disks will tell you that it is a Ventoy key with one exFAT partition (7.1 GiB) and at the end a little FAT partition for the Ventoy stuff, nothing else

Incorrect. It also reports space available and, by implication, space used. See coffee's screenshot above.
Do you really not know that? Or are you just posting whatever pops into your head?

A little more free advice: the best and most accurate tool for this purpose is du (in Terminal).

Size : 7.7 GB - 88 MB free (98.9% full) that's right

This might be a little more enlightening: du -hs /media/u3/Ventoy.
And, as it has the path, can be run from the home folder as usual.

You should first copy the content to an other drive and check size:
The 1 GB sound like a bad flash chip, some data may be lost or the controller managed to move all data before disabling the chip.
Use Win SW to check the partition/drive and/or reformat it to see what happens - I’d not use it any more.

It is possible because it is a noname flash memory sold under the brand name Emtec product "Click 3.0" ECMMD8GB103 10 e in 2014 :) BUT before to use it as boot drive I checked it with a free tool under Windows and it was perfect, tool advised by Ventoy developpers, its name is h2testw
