SOLVED: Splotchy Celluloid video playback in Mint21 Cinnamon

Post by SunWorks »

Hello,
When I play a video in Celluloid, the playback is splotchy, pixelated and sometimes just a grainy green screen.
This does *not* happen in VLC.
This did *not* happen in Mint 20 with Celluloid or VLC.
As the title states, I am using Mint 21 Cinnamon.

It's very annoying as I prefer to use Celluloid for video playback because I use VLC for other things.

Here's my system info:

The 1st thing recommended by the devs of mpv (the Celluloiod backend) if you're having video playback issues is to see if hardware decoding (hwdec in mpv-speak) is turned on. If it is, turn it off.
For every complex problem there is an answer that is clear, simple, and wrong - H. L. Mencken

Thank you very much.
That worked.
In Celluloid.
Choose 'Preferences'
Choose 'Miscellaneous' tab
At the panel bottom, under "Extra mpv options:"
Change to:
hwdec=no

Click Save.
